Las notas de los árbitros designados para los encuentros de los equipos españoles de los octavos de final de la Champions League.

 

Archivo VAR analiza en profundidad la actuación arbitral de los colegiados designados para los encuentros de los equipos españoles de los octavos de final de la Champions League. Se tendrá en cuenta el criterio escogido por el colegiado y si lo ha llevado de forma correcta, el número de tarjetas amarillas y si a nivel disciplinario ha sido correcto, además de analizar en profundidad la polémica que se pueda dar durante los noventa minutos del encuentro.

Análisis de los tres colegiados designados para los partidos que se disputarán entre el martes y el miércoles: Newcastle – Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid – Tottenham y Real Madrid – Manchester City.

 

Marco Guida – 7,0

 

  • CRITERIO: Arbitraje muy clásico y solvente de Marco Guida a los mandos de un Newcastle – Barcelona en el que optó por un criterio permisivo desde el primer minuto hasta el final, perdonando alguna que otra amarilla en la primera mitad y manteniendo dicho criterio de forma equilibrada. No desentonó especialmente en las acciones más simples pero quizá sí debió mostrar alguna que otra tarjeta.
  • TARJETAS: Mostró tres tarjetas amarillas nada más, ambas de forma correcta, pero debió mostrar una más a Fermín en los primeros instantes de la primera mitad por un agarrón persistente sin intención de jugar el balón. La única acción de relativa polémica en este aspecto fue la protestada posible tarjeta amarilla a Lamine Yamal que le habría llevado a perderse la vuelta de la eliminatoria en el Camp Nou. Si bien es cierto que el jugador del Barcelona realiza un bloqueo bastante descarado, lo comete en una posición del terreno de juego bastante retrasada y sin peligro. Acción muy gris que unos colegiados habrían sancionado con amarilla pero que Marco Guida, siguiendo su criterio habitual, dejó pasar.
  • POLÉMICA: La única acción de polémica se dio en el último instante del partido. El colegiado italiano señaló un claro penalti sobre Dani Olmo que generó el empate del Barcelona. El penalti se produjo pasado el tiempo de descuento y dicha ampliación fue muy correcta, ya que el Newcastle perdió 40» de tiempo efectivo en el saque de una falta. Marco Guida recuperó esa pérdida de tiempo y la pena máxima entra dentro de lo reglamentario.

CRITERION: Marco Guida delivered a very traditional style of refereeing during Newcastle – Barcelona, applying a permissive approach from the first minute until the final whistle. He allowed the game to flow and avoided showing several possible yellow cards during the first half, maintaining that same balanced line throughout the match. His management of the simpler situations was generally correct, although he perhaps should have shown one or two additional bookings.

CARDS: The Italian referee showed only three yellow cards during the match, all of them correct. However, he should have added another early in the first half when Fermín committed a persistent holding foul with no intention of playing the ball. It was Guida’s only clear mistake of the game, but it was quite evident.

CONTROVERSY: The only moment of relative controversy involved a possible yellow card for Lamine Yamal, which would have ruled him out of the second leg at Camp Nou. While the Barcelona player did make a fairly obvious blocking action, it occurred in a deeper area of the pitch without any real attacking danger. It was a very borderline situation: some referees would have shown a yellow card, but Marco Guida chose to allow play to continue, consistent with the permissive line he had applied throughout the match.

Serdar Gozobuyuk – 3,5

 

  • CRITERIO: Suspenso para Sedar Gozobuyuk tras un arbitraje muy tranquilo y pausado, pero sin nivel, a los mandos de un Atlético de Madrid – Tottenahm en el que tuvo trabajo del bueno durante los noventa minutos y no consiguió solventarlo de la mejor manera, cometiendo errores importantes de apreciación y regalando alguna que otra amarilla. Además, se inventó una infracción que nunca llegó a existir en la primera mitad.
  • TARJETAS: Mostró cinco tarjetas amarillas, todas ellas al conjunto visitante. Pudo perdonar alguna de ellas pero también debió mostrar una roja directa en la primera mitad en la que no señaló ni falta.
  • POLÉMICA: La acción polémica del choque, anteriormente mencionada, se dio en la primera mitad tras una entrada de Van de Ven a la tibia de Hancko en la que, pese a tocar ligeramente el balón, existe juego brusco grave por parte del jugador holandés. Una infracción de roja directa que el colegiado turco no aprecio. De hecho, no señaló ni la propia infracción simple.

Serdar Gözübüyük – 3.5

CRITERION: A failing grade for Serdar Gözübüyük after a very calm and slow-paced refereeing performance in Atlético de Madrid – Tottenham, a match that provided plenty of challenging situations throughout the ninety minutes. The referee was unable to manage them effectively, committing several significant errors of judgement and showing a few questionable yellow cards. In addition, he awarded an infringement in the first half that simply never existed.

CARDS: He showed five yellow cards, all of them to the visiting team. While one or two of them could perhaps have been avoided, he also failed to show a direct red card in the first half in an incident where he did not even award a foul.

CONTROVERSY: The key controversial moment of the match occurred in the first half following a challenge by Van de Ven on Hancko’s shin. Although the Dutch defender made slight contact with the ball, the tackle still constitutes serious foul play due to the force and point of impact. It was a clear red-card offence that the referee failed to recognise. In fact, he did not even award the initial foul.

Maurizio Mariani – 7,0

 

  • CRITERIO: Notable para Maurizio Mariani a los mandos de un Real Madrid – Manchester City en el que el colegiado no realizó un arbitraje excesivamente europeo. El colegiado italiano optó por un criterio un tanto intervencionista, en el que señaló alguna infracción que pudo ahorrarse pero señaló de forma correcta un penalti en la segunda mitad. No fue una actuación redonda, pero sí bastante solvente.
  • TARJETAS: Mostró apenas dos tarjetas amarillas, ambas para el Manchester City. Una de ellas fue para Donnarumma en la acción del penalti.
  • POLÉMICA: La acción polémica del choque fue la anteriormente mencionada. Vinicius se plantó solo delante de Donnarumma para, tras un recorte, ser trabado por el colegiado italiano. La infracción es clara y Maurizio Mariani la apreció perfectamente en directo, señalando los once metros al instante.

CRITERION: A solid performance from Maurizio Mariani in charge of Real Madrid – Manchester City. The Italian referee did not adopt an overly “European” refereeing style, instead choosing a somewhat interventionist approach. He whistled a few fouls that could perhaps have been avoided, but he correctly awarded a penalty in the second half. It was not a perfect performance, but overall it was a fairly reliable display.

CARDS: He showed only two yellow cards during the match, both to Manchester City players. One of them was shown to Donnarumma for the incident that resulted in the penalty.

CONTROVERSY: The main controversial moment of the match was the previously mentioned penalty. Vinícius found himself one-on-one with Donnarumma and, after cutting inside, was brought down by the goalkeeper. The foul was clear and Maurizio Mariani read the situation perfectly in real time, immediately pointing to the penalty spot.
